The main rationale for offering the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (Health & Social Care) is to prepare highly trained managers for the many new career pathways in healthcare. As professionals from a wide variety of medical, nursing, midwifery, and other health backgrounds are increasingly taking on higher- level, demanding roles and offering leadership to others, this Post Graduate Diploma is aimed at assisting these managers in rising to their new challenges.
Masters Pathway
Holders of the ABP Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (Health & Social Care) with relevant work experience will be considered for admission with 120 on to the International MBA. Those without relevant work experience can apply for admission with 120 credits onto the MSc Management.
- The major objective of the programme is to expose the students to the field of management with a focus on the areas of Health & Social Care. In more detail, it would enable them to:
- Understand the various concepts of Management and their applications in the field of Health and Social Care and demonstrate managerial skills in a developmental way.
- Identify and apply specialist expertise relevant to the various sub-disciplines of Health and Social Care Management.
- Critically analyse management theories and assess the business situation, set attainable objectives, generate effective business policies and oversee their effective implementation.
- Understand how to carry out a business research project in a scientific manner by applying appropriate methodologies
- A UK or equivalent second class if fresh graduate or degree plus 2 years middle management experience. Anyone without a degree must have 4 - 5 years management experience. These entry qualifications will also cover the MBA progression. A normal three year degree will be required for progression to MA in Management.
- English language must normally be IELTS 5.5 or provided the medium of instructions at the Degree level was English.
To ensure the practical use of the programme’s learning outcomes, assessment for the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (Health and Social Care) will be fully based on course work with no formal examinations. The course work will combine Case Studies, Regular Assignments and Presentations.
In order to make assessment as fair as possible a system of moderation has been put in place. TMCOL undertakes all assessment activities and internal moderation, while the Association of Business Practitioner (ABP) undertakes an external moderation exercise. The final results are then presented to the Academic Board for formal approval.
